2018 Reading Challenge

Book Challenge

I love to read. Growing up as an only child was great, especially before the wave of social media platforms, mobile phones and gaming. Childhood was what I think childhood is meant to be. Playing out with friends, making up games to play, using your imagination and of course reading. Reading is always an escape to me. I love fiction books – travelling to another world, with amazing characters and vivid locations is one of my favourite past times. As I’ve grown older though, it’s started to take a back seat to everything else that I have going on in life. When I was at school I could come home and spend hours at night reading, but now with a job, going to the gym, a partner and a house to look after it’s safe to say I’m a bit busier now so I don’t get chance to read as much as I would like to.

This year that’s going to change. I’ve set myself a reading challenge on Good Reads to read 25 books this year. I know that 25 books is nothing to some people, but last year I think I managed to read about 6! So 25 is definitely a
mountain to me! I’ve chosen Good Reads to use to track my books, as I’d heard good things about it and lots of people have said it’s really easy to use. It’s free to sign up and you can add lists to your profile, for example, books you’ve read, books you’d like to read and what you’re currently reading too. You can also rate books and then you get recommendations based on your existing ratings. Unless you couldn’t tell I’m really impressed with it so far.

This isn’t a sponsored post or anything I just thought I’d share this with you as it’s a pretty cool website if you like reading and want to keep track of your books. It also keeps me accountable if I share my target with you guys too! I’m at Kayleigh Hazell-Welland over there if you’d like to follow along and we can keep each other in check with our targets. I’ve already read 3 books this year and I’m halfway through my fourth – if this keeps up I’ll hit my target in no time!

Do you like to read? What sort of books are your favourites?
